Cheng Xin's research group has long been engaged in studying and teaching of building materials and related disciplines. The research team currently has more than 20 full-time scientific researchers, 80% of whom have doctoral degrees, 7 professors, 11 associate professors, 1 Taishan Scholar Climbing Program expert, 1 "863" chief scientist, 2 experts who enjoy the Government Special Allowance of the State Council, 1 Shandong provincial outstanding contribution experts. The research group relies on University of Jinan and the Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Preparation and Measurement of Building Materials to carry out its work. The discipline of Materials Science and Engineering belongs to the top 1% of the global ESI and the first-class disciplines of Shandong Province during the "13th Five-Year Plan". It owns the first batch of national and provincial collaborative innovation centers for "Green and Intelligent Manufacturing and Application of Advanced Building Materials", the "Innovation and Intellectual Introduction Program of Disciplines of University——Advanced Cement-Based Materials Discipline Innovation and Induction Base" ("111 Plan"), etc. The research group has actively carried out academic exchanges and cooperation globally. In the past 5 years, it has received a branch of cooperative researches and exchange lecturing, and visiting scholars and students with the international scholars of the Universities and Institutes about cement and concrete, including the United States, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, and Switzerland. Cheng Xin's Group has established joint laboratories with the Technical University of Munich, and hosted two international academic conferences. The research group has undertaken more than 20 national and provincial projects, including 863 plans, national key research and development plans, international cooperation projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (including key projects), and major basic special projects in Shandong Province. The relevant achievements have been transformed partly into the application of engineering. Cheng Xin's group has successfully provided technical support for the development of the building materials industry and has effectively promoted the development of high-tech industries.
